Sunday Stills: The Rule of Thirds

This week's challenge was "the rule of thirds." The subject should occupy one third of the photo (top or bottom, left or right). Took my Canon PowerShot SX10IS to Dressage at Devonwood in Sherwood, Oregon, for an afternoon of musical freestyle.

Dressage under the shadow of Mt. Hood.
(This is the large warm up ring.)

Welsh cob cantering beneath the firs.

Waiting for the bell to enter the dressage court.

Cantering the corner with a view of the valley.

For more examples of "the rule of thirds," visit Sunday Stills.

I don't know which is more beautiful, the horses or the scenery.

Nice job. I LOVE dressage. As a teen I used to attend the Pin Oak Horse Show in Houston, Tx. every year. I would hang out in the stable so I could be close to the horses. :)

I really love the first shot; really uses the 1/3 rule in all aspects. It also really draws me in towards the final destination ~ I want to walk over there to see whats next, to see what the rider is looking towards :) Good framing!

Well done, I really like the way the shape of the mountain and the shape of the top of the tent are alike..it adds something really great to the photo..you followed the rule of thirds really well! :)
