However, I did manage to take a few pictures outside earlier this week. Winter in the valley generally means the moss, mildew, and lichen are thriving:
The following is one of my father's finds. He played trombone professionally but collected anything related to brass instruments:
And here is something I keep on my computer desk for inspiration. It's supposed to be a Christmas ornament, but Snoopy at his typewriter is representative of all published author wannabes.

We are getting the Pineapple Express here right now too. At least the ice is going away. I like the lichen and mass, and the Bugler's Call Book is a cool find. We have a huge book of newspapers from Montana in the 1920's that has some really neat stuff in it too.
Great moss and lichens!
Great lichen macro shot. :)
I don't think I have ever seen lichen. Too cold and then too hot where I live. Love the look of the old paper. Snoopy is hard at work!
I like lichens..well done! I often photograph them too when they are not covered in snow..I hope that pineapple express gets to Minnesota:)
We have lots of moss and lichens here too thanks to the same pineapple express. LOL
I think I have the same horse that is behind your Snoopy. LOL
Passing along my Stylish Blogger Award. Come pick it up at my blog. I thought that macro challenge was hard. Don't have a macro setting on my camera. You did well.
Reindeer lichen is the best! For some reason I think of lungs and bronchi etc. when I see it - too much bio in my college life lol
